Cranky's Event Snippet
As one who normally finishes all of the rapid quests within the first day or two, I wanted to gather my thoughts and suggestions so others might be able to hurry through as well.
Reason, I hurry, so that I get to the daily quests and don't have to keep thinking/planning what I am doing based on the quests. Only one per day makes it simpler.
Pre-Start
- Before an even starts (actually all the time), I watch the AD every day for Supply Rush and Store Item. I buy the EVERY TIME they appear because they can be really helpful in events.
- Setup AD Exchanges the day before. If you don't have time for a 24-hour exchange, then setup a 2-hour exchange. DO NOT COLLECT until the quest comes up to exchange in the AD.
- I try to aid all my friends and neighbors as early as possible the day before the event. That way, when it comes up in the event they will be ready to be aided/tavern visits again.
- The night before, I setup my productions to collect the first production quest (15-min this time, so maybe early morning).
During the Event
- Production buildings - you will have two types of productions. Most just say a time-based (i.e. 15-minute) production. Sometimes, it will be from current or previous age. I use blacksmiths (smallest footprint) for all of my timed productions. For current/previous age I use sleigh builders because I have enough. If you don't have current-age production buildings, I like the cider mills (I also pick those up from AD a lot). If you already have one, an upgrade makes it current age. The other good option is the confectionaries that you see in the AD as well.
- Watch for productions and set them up in advance. Setup productions in advance and when each one required is complete, setup the next. Look at the quests and have your list ready ... e.g., 15-minute, 5-minute, 4-hour, 8-hour (or 3 battles, I fight), 10 from current age or 5 incidents (I do the incidents), 15-minute, 4-hour or exchange in AD (AD is 2-hour option, so always faster), etc.
This gets you through the Main Questline
- For collect goods - I always just go to the market and select guild only and acceptable offers and take what trades I need to complete the task. Some people do circle trades and that works as well, but you are dependent on someone else taking the trades.
- For coins - I look in my inventory and find one of those many buildings that are left and haven't been sold in the AD. Plant it and sell it to collect coins and supplies. Usually Cultural Buildings are worth the most coins/supplies. Decorations usually don't work for this. If you don't have any in storage, you can build one from the Building Menu and then sell it immediately to collect. City collection is also a great time to get coins/supplies.
- For Happiness and Population, I try to time those immediately after city collection. Then I use a Store Building to store a high-pop/happiness event guilding (I usually use the Governor's Villa for this). Immediately re-plant the building and you will get the happiness/population gain. A second happiness tool is to replace long sections of road with Iron Age roads then replace again with current age roads. Another source for population is to plant a building that requires population, then sell it and you will gain the population that way.
- Incidents - stop collecting incidents the night before, you will need them for quests as well.
